FAQ’s

How much water does the Easy Prep hold?

The Easy Prep can hold up to 1.7 litres, which is enough for 6 x 8oz bottles!

How often should I change the water?

We recommend that you change the water daily

What temperature should I set the Easy Prep at?

We recommend setting the water temperature to between 40°C and 45°C so the bottle will be at an ideal feeding temperature for your little one.

Who should I contact if i have a problem?

If you need any assistance with your Easy Prep, contact info@elephante.co.uk, we are more than happy to help you.

What is the smallest bottle size I can make

The smallest bottle size you can make with the Easy Prep is 2oz or 40ml

Why is the amount of feed more than I was expecting?

If we base our example on a 180ml bottle, you add the correct amount of formula to the bottle then the Easy Prep will add 180ml of water. When mixed this will be above the 180ml mark on the bottle but this is correct for amount of formula and water mixed.

How do I clean my Easy Prep?

It’s really easy to clean your Easy Prep – a simple limescale remover (available from any supermarket) needs to be used in the main tank if you get any build-up, it’s as easy as cleaning your kettle!

Does my Easy Prep have a filter to change?

No! We’ve designed the Easy Prep to be as simple to use as possible so there is no extra filters to buy and change.

Is it safe to use temperatures lower than 70°C to make a bottle?

We believe it is, yes. Not everyone agrees so it’s important to make the best decision for you and your family.
Globally, there are many different recommendations for making up Infant Formula Milk.
The Easy Prep does not keep the water at 70⁰C (unless you set it at that temperature) but there are many who believe that not doing so is a better option – experts ranging from government bodies to manufacturers of probiotic milk (that cannot be heated beyond 40⁰C without reducing their nutritional value).
It is widely believed that sterilising the bottles, washing your hands, and keeping general good hygiene while preparing the bottle is enough especially when the bottle is being consumed immediately. The UK is one of a few countries that only recommend using water at 70⁰C. Some countries e.g. Canada follow WHO advice and recommend using either water at 70°C or pre-boiled room temperature water while other countries, for example, the USA and France have decided that using water at 70°C is not appropriate and does not recommend at all.
As an international authority, the WHO must take many factors into account, including countries with poor water quality, as well as socioeconomic factors (education, income, etc.). In the UK, our water supply is one of the highest qualities in the world and is continually monitored for safe levels of contaminants (including bacterial pathogens).
A study published in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition shows that using water at 70°C does not kill the bacteria and in fact, temperatures of 87°C were needed to kill all bacteria but at these temperatures, the nutritional value of the milk is reduced. Another study by Anses in France (the French equivalent of Public Health England) found that making bottles using formula milk is better at lower temperatures as it does not change the nutritional content of the milk.
Being a parent involves making many choices that will affect your child and which milk to use and how to prepare it is one of them. If you have any concerns as to whether the Easy Prep is a suitable choice for your baby’s bottles, please consult your health visitor!
